The antidote to this is obviously to batch. I know some people don’t like batching their content and I get it but here’s the thing, someone once told me that freedom comes from having rules and very strict rules. Imagine the time you’re going to save when you batch-create your podcast.
Another thing you can do if you don’t like batching is to create backup episodes, I recommend having three to five episodes that are more general and evergreen that you can just drop anytime you are in a situation.
Start thinking very quickly about what are the episodes that you can do right now that are going to light you up. Give yourself five minutes to come up with content ideas that are going to be helpful to you and your listeners. If you have somebody that you can reach out to, reach out to them. Think about frequently asked questions and record a quick episode answering that question.
Do make sure that whatever you’re talking about actually does light you up, and you’re excited about it because that’s obviously going to be super helpful.
Another way to record a podcast even if you don’t like it is to think long-term and think about the person who’s waiting to listen to your episode. You have to show up for five people the same way that you’d show up for 100 people or for 1000 or people for 100,000 people, that doesn’t need to change, still show up and stay committed.
Not a single episode can skyrocket your business but if you keep showing up, great things will happen for your business. Forget about perfection like having a perfect setup or a recording studio, you have to think about the longevity of your podcast and the longevity of your business.
You have to have these excellent boundaries with yourself and show up for yourself and your business so that your business does move forward.
