Is Pinterest a worthy platform to help market your podcast? Can you grow your podcast with Pinterest?
As someone who has been in this field for a few years, it is always better for me to work smart than to work hard. As I have been sharing from my past posts SEO is the way to increase your podcast growth, I also make sure that I spend my time in the right places that will help my podcast.
I’ve seen this in podcast Facebook groups I belong to. Whenever the topic of growing your podcast arises, one of their usual recommendations is to get on social media: do reels, do TikToks. For me, using social media to grow your podcast is not the wisest idea, but there is one search engine that would really boost your visibility: Pinterest.
Pinterest is a visual search engine so you get to pair your keywords with interesting and eye-catching visuals to lead people to your podcast. Pinterest is a long-term game. The way we talk about SEO as a long-term game, the same way goes with Pinterest as a search engine. The search engines need to understand what your content is about and what keywords do you use. But you have to be consistent. You have to post consistently because your pin being viral is not going to happen in a month.
Your pin should attract your viewer. The visual design matters.
For those who need help with graphic design, I recently launched my podcast template shop. The podcast pack also includes Pinterest templates, Facebook and Instagram templates, and cover art templates. These templates can definitely give your podcast a cohesive brand across all platforms.
Make sure to include a good hook on the actual pin that you design. Even with a stunning design, people still want to know why they need to click on your pin. With a good hook, people are more likely to take action and click the link to your podcast.
Your title should be searchable. You can be creative with your visuals but have to be strategic with your keywords – your title and your description. You’re allowed to use 500 characters for the description so make sure to use proper keywords because that will help your visibility.
Please do not just copy just a bunch of keywords and paste them into your descriptions! Search engines are smart and that strategy is bound to fail. Keep readability in mind and infuse your keywords in the paragraphs of your description. Make sure it’s still something enjoyable and worth reading. To make things easier for you, you can actually use the SEO-optimized show notes of your podcast as the description of your pins.
When it comes to linking your pins, you can link back to your website – assuming you have all your podcast episodes on your site. If you don’t have a website, you can link each episode to your pins. But do you know what podcast platform they are using?
Here’s another bonus tip: since you’re not sure what podcast platform your viewers might be listening to, I recommend using Chartable. You can create a free account and it will generate a link for your podcast where listeners can choose what platform they would want your podcast to be played in.
Are you ready to maximize Pinterest? Let Pinterest be the platform that will help boost your podcast.
