So, you’re a new podcaster and you want to grow your podcast fast and make it sustainable?
I have just the best tips for you.
As someone who started podcasting with 0 listeners and no social media presence to boost my podcast, but now has become one of the top podcasts out there, I am not one to gatekeep how I was able to do this. Here are the top 3 tips I have for you to make podcasting sustainable.
During my early podcasting days, I used to water down my content. They’re all very neutral without any specific niche or audience in mind. I was not sure if I could make it sustainable if I just focused on my core gifts.
But everything changed once I started talking about something specific. I talked about Etsy and e-commerce and suddenly, I am hitting my target audience. And my podcast started growing.
Here’s the thing: People-pleasing won’t get you anywhere. I have a client who was unapologetic about who she is, standing up for her Christian beliefs, and people paid attention. She was getting thousands of downloads for her podcast. Not everyone will like what you’re saying, but the people who do will listen and stay.
Maximize your gift. Focus on it. Stand up for it.
As I have shared, I started my podcast with no dedicated listeners. No social media presence. No email list or newsletter. Yet few months later, I saw my podcast grow.
Why?
Because I stayed consistent.
Remember that things don’t happen overnight. If you want to make podcasting sustainable, make it your main marketing platform. Learn to depend on it like it’s the only way you can reach your audience. The good thing about podcasts is you can repurpose them and create other content – blogs, posts, reels – just from the podcast itself.
I recommend that you appear in podcasts with the same niche as yours. Then invite them too as guests to your podcast. This is a strategic way for you to exchange content and gain listeners.
But keep in mind that having a bunch of people come to your podcast is not a strategic one. Make sure that your guests bring value to your podcast.
Spend time growing your podcast in the podcast. Social media can help, but the best strategy is gaining followers within your podcast platform itself.
Now here’s a bonus tip: Pay attention to the SEO.
I have been saying this repeatedly in almost all my episodes, but it’s because I have seen people not taking advantage of SEO. If you’re just starting and you want to understand SEO better, I have a free resource available. Learn about SEO, keywords, and how they all tie together. If you start focusing on SEO, you’ll see amazing growth for your podcast.
But if you are looking for a blueprint or a shortcut that can help your podcast grow, I have exactly what you need. As a podcaster and an owner of a podcast agency, I have the data and analytics to back up all these lessons. Make sure to join my program to help your podcast become more visible and relevant to listeners.
Remember, this is not an overnight success. By following those tips, patience, and the right strategy, you can see significant growth in your podcast. Let’s make your podcast a resounding success.
