Whether you’re going on maternity leave, vacation, surgery, or just need to step away from your online business, there are ways to take a break without feeling like your business is going to fall apart.
In this episode, I share 3 things for you to focus on before taking an online business break so your business can continue to grow, even if you’re not around.
I pray this episode this episode sets you up for success!
If you’re gearing up for maternity leave, jetting off on vacation, or simply taking a break for whatever reason, I’ve got you covered with some super useful tips. Today, I’m excited to share some easy, down-to-earth strategies that’ll help you set things up just right. Let’s casually dive into these no-stress tricks to keep your online business humming along while you’re away.
The number one thing I’m focusing on in my business right now is something you might already be great at, or perhaps you’re like me, not naturally inclined toward it. I’m talking about organizing systems to make life easier, like email sequences. Here’s a little confession: I reached a six-figure business without a solid back-end system for emails. Sure, I’m hooked up with ConvertKit, but until recently, anyone who signed up didn’t get into any kind of nurturing email sequence.
I love the idea of being organized, but setting up systems just isn’t my forte. The thought of configuring something in ConvertKit? That would totally freak me out. It’s just not how my brain works. However, I’ve finally set up an email sequence that I absolutely love and I’m thrilled to say it’s live and out in the world!
Do you already have an email sequence? Maybe it’s time to start working on it. If you wrote yours a while back, even just a few months ago, it’s worth revisiting to ensure it’s still relevant. We’re constantly growing and evolving, so it’s important that the content we send out reflects the current version of ourselves. This new setup has been a game changer for me, and I’m super excited to have it finally out of the way and working for me.
Setting up a passive income stream is essential, especially when you can’t actively exchange your time for money. This is particularly relevant in my situation, as I’ll soon be preoccupied with caring for a new baby, significantly limiting my available time. My solution? Focusing on digital products that sell themselves. These are items people can purchase instantly from me, gaining immediate value, while I generate income without being actively involved.
I’m currently developing a library of passive products, designed to not only boost my income but also provide real value to others. The key here is creating something once, and then letting it do its work indefinitely. I’m especially interested in products that require low maintenance, ensuring that they are as hassle-free as possible.
As you prepare for a break and need to step away, an important consideration is how to maintain your marketing presence and visibility. I’m in a similar boat, facing the challenge of keeping up my presence while being averse to social media. Thankfully, I have a reliable assistant who understands my voice and style. She’ll handle my content during my absence, which is a huge relief. However, embracing social media was initially tough for me. But after discussions with my husband and realizing its value, especially when I won’t be actively creating content like reels, I’ve begun to see its benefits.
For those planning a break, it’s crucial to strategize now. Consider exploring new platforms or hiring help. With over 300 podcast episodes, I have a rich reservoir of content to repurpose. My husband and assistant can convert these into social media posts, ensuring a continuous presence on various platforms. It’s about finding a balance that works for you, whether you’re a social media pro or, like me, prefer focusing on podcasting. The key is to plan ahead to maintain visibility during your absence, starting these preparations well before your break begins.
Working on your email sequence, setting up passive income streams, and planning ahead are all vital strategies to ensure your business continues to grow during your absence.
