Hey, gorgeous. Welcome back to the Fruitful Mama Podcast. Today, we’re talking about reasons why your business is not growing. So sis you’re gonna want to grab a pen and paper or this one, because you definitely want to take notes. Today’s episode is full of actionable steps. And if you’re in a season right now, you’re in a place where you started your business, but it’s just not growing. It’s not things how you dream, they’re just not happening. We’re going to talk about it. Today, I’m going to help you pinpoint those reasons why. And hopefully, by the end of this episode, you’re going to have a pretty solid idea, you’re going to have a plan and you’re going to know what to do next.
Okay says reason number one your business is not growing is because your niche, you’re not niche with your product at all. Not even just your product, but you don’t understand your niche, you don’t understand who is the segment of the market that your product is for. And you may think to yourself, that your product is for everybody that everybody can buy, and everybody can enjoy. And it can be for millennials, and retired people.
And you can be for moms and single women but at the end of the day, you just really have to become super clear on who do you actually want to serve, and who is the piece of the market that you’re going after because this is really important information for when you’re thinking about how you’re going to write listings, take pictures, even like the packaging that you’re going to create for your product is all really important information in that you need to know so understanding your niche is pivotal.
It’s super important so that you understand who your product is for. If you just kind of have this blob product that you think is for everybody, and you’re not really targeting anybody, you’re really not going to have the success that you want because you’re not be specific enough, you’re being too general. And people like knowing that the thing that they’re buying is made for them, you know. And with that in mind, the next reason why your business isn’t growing is because you do not understand your ICA and the pain points that your ICA has. Now if this is the first time you’re hearing about ICA ICA stands for ideal customer avatar, and that is the person that when you think about the most perfect customer that is them. So think about that.
If you have never made sales before and you don’t know who that person is, just string them up in your head. Let’s say she’s a woman. Okay, that’s great that’s a great start. We know she’s a woman. So is she married? Is she single? She a mom? Is she a stay at home? Mom? Does she work a corporate job? What’s her story? And what’s her age? Is she a millennial? Is she what comes after millennial Gen Z? Or why are you guys but the point is, get super specific. Because you’re not going to market something to say a stay at home mom, millennial, the same way that you’re going to advertise something to a teenager, I like to refer to different people.
And I don’t care if your product is great for both of them, you just have to really understand who is your ideal person and like only sell to them. This doesn’t mean that you’re not going to make sales to anybody else but it means that you’re so crystal clear on the person that you’re serving that when that person leads or listing they’re going to buy because they know it’s for them or if it’s somebody who isn’t necessarily your ideal customer avatar, but they see what your product does. They’re convicted that you can help them too. We’ve all done it before we have all bought something that we didn’t think it was necessarily made for us but we bought anyway because we were just so in love with the product.
We do that all the time so be super clear about your ICA but not only that, like what are her pain points as relates to the product that you sell because again, you’re want to make sure that person when she lands on her listing that she knows that this product is for you. And I’m saying she but of course it could be a heat too so it doesn’t matter but the point is, understand your ICA their pain points, that is going to help you get your business to a next level and it’s going to help your business grow. Another reason why your business isn’t growing is because you’re just not showing up opening up your Etsy shop or Amazon store or Shopify, it is a lot of hard work and it’s the first step but that’s not the last step. So after you do all that, how are you showing up?
How are you getting people to know that your store exists? If you open up a brick and mortar, you wouldn’t keep it a secret you wouldn’t. Hopefully you didn’t open like a speakeasy type of brick and mortar right like you would tell people and you would let people know hey, come to our store, you’d advertise it, you’d announce it to the world but when it comes to your online store, you’re hiding it. You’re not showing up on Pinterest, you’re not creating any content to attract people over to your shop. So that needs to stop that your business is not going to grow if we’re not marketing it.
So a huge part of getting your business to grow is showing up and serving your ideal customer avatar, which is why it’s so important to understand who she or he is, so that you can solve their problems before they even think about buying from you but you have to show up and my favourite place, my number one place that you need to show up is Pinterest so make pins and if your pins are taking them directly back to your online store, that’s fine but then the next thing after that, that you really need to think about doing is starting maybe a podcast, a YouTube channel, working with influencers, if you don’t want just her own podcast and get interviewed on other people’s podcasts, really get your name and your brand out there so people know you exist, don’t hide it. Don’t keep it a secret.
Make sure that you’re really marketing your store so people know to show up and come buy from you because you want people to buy you have to let them know you exist. Okay, next reason why your business is not growing sis is because you’re not investing. Listen, homie, you can sit here and duct tape business strategies all day long by watching countless YouTube videos and listening to countless podcasts and look at all the blogs and going to Pinterest, searching things like you can do that all day long but until you level up and invest and you commit to one person, one coach who you adore and whatever you buy their programme or you get inside of a one on one with them, you’re just gonna stay stuck. And why would you do that when you can literally have the blueprint of somebody who has walked the path before you don’t you just want to shortcut a bunch of mistakes and just go straight into what works that’s so much easier, there is zero reason for you to just sit and struggle. If there’s a shortcut, let’s do it.
Let’s go for it because starting a business is going to be challenging no matter what so if you can shortcut some of those heartaches and just get somebody blueprint and just do their service, or process, whatever, and just make it happen for you, the girlfriend, and even if you have been selling and you feel like your business has hit a plateau, then girl, hire a coach, let’s go next level because what got you here is not going to get you there. For example, let’s say you got on a diet and you lost a bunch of weight, but then you hit a plateau and you have those last 10 pounds to lose. Again, what got you here, it’s not going to get you there, you have to change something, whether that’s your exercise, or the foods you’re eating, whatever, you have to change something for the way to budge.
And it’s the same thing with business, okay, so level up, invest in books, invest in yourself, it’s important to invest, I have invested so much in my own business to make sure that I grow and that I learn and that I move on to the next level because I don’t want to stay stuck in the same everydayness of life I always want to learn I always want to go next level, I don’t want to stay stuck. So it’s okay to invest. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to level up, you just have to. And remember why you started this business in the first place. And honestly, you’re going to have a really hard time getting people to buy from you if you don’t want to invest. You know, money is an energy, it’s an exchange of energy. And if you’re just afraid of investing in business, then how do you expect other people to just be okay, spending money on you. So be okay with investing and levelling up and reading books and just really growing because it’s necessary. Okay and then the next reason why it says your business isn’t growing is because you’re using old tactics. Listen, refresh listings, duplicating listings, dropping links on Facebook. What else do people do? Creating products out of thin air?
And I don’t know, having a listing every day. Those are things that worked a while ago, okay, does not work in 2022, who wants to sit here and refresh listings or renew listings every single day? No, how about we have foundation set in place that allows us to do something once and then have that work for us organically again, and again, so that we can actually enjoy life. You know, the whole reason why we started businesses is so that we can have more freedom so that we can have more flexibility but if you’re like glued to your phone or your computer, and you’re always renewing those listings, and you’re duplicating listings and doing those things, no, that’s not a life, you guys, I am not here for that that’s not what I teach that is not what I preach, I go the completely different route I have. For the longest time I had one product on my Etsy shop and then recently I added three digital products. And I have one product on my Amazon store. And I am not a guys I have never renewed a listing manually because I wanted more sales or something like that.
I have organic strategies set up all in the backend so that I have people coming to my shop organically. I never have to do that. And I do not stand by that. I think that is a waste of time and a waste of 20 cents there are better things you can do it. I think it’s easy for you to sit here and think that it’s only 20 cents, whatever but that’s not sustainable. How much money are you actually going to spend renewing listings when you could hire somebody who could actually have help you and have strategies that you’re going to do once in, you’re going to work free forever. I have pins that I have pinned in like 2020. And they still bring me traffic to this day that is the kind of success that I want for you.
Okay, I want you to have this business model that you show up, you do the thing, you put your product out, you put your content out, and then you just have people coming to you. I don’t want you sitting here in this hustle in this dropping things every day. It is, I don’t know, fear that your shop is not growing, because that’s no way to live. And that is I know, that’s not the reason why you started a business. Okay, so mama, those are the reasons why this is 12345 reasons why your business isn’t growing. I really hope that you enjoyed this episode that you took some mad notes down and don’t forget that you’re capable, you’re strong, you can do hard things and until next time, may you be wrapped in peace, love, and kindness and I will catch you in the next episode.
